The new year began with double the joy at Mercy Hospital Perry, where two baby boys were welcomed as the first births of 2026.
The hospital’s first baby of the year was Nolan Mae, born at 12:24 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, to Savannah Young and Camden Britt. Nolan arrived just minutes after the new year began.
“Nolan made sure he was going to be the star of the show and waited to come until just after midnight,” Young said. She also expressed appreciation for her family and the hospital staff, adding that she hoped others’ new year began as joyfully as hers. A short time later, another New Year’s baby arrived in the hospital’s labor and delivery unit. Titus Carl was born at 1:13 a.m. Jan. 1 to Olivia Hawkins and Chris Cox.
Hospital staff congratulated both families on welcoming their newborn sons and starting the new year with memorable milestones.
