The importance of Hunter Orange

Posted

The early antlerless portion of Missouri’s firearm deer season begins Oct. 10, marking the start of another exciting firearms season. As always, safety is a top priority-and that starts with wearing hunter orange.

Hunter orange, also known as blaze orange, is a high-visibility color that’s nearly impossible to miss in natural environments. It’s required by law during all portions of Missouri’s firearm deer season. This bright color helps ensure that hunters can be clearly seen by others, even in dense woods or low-light conditions.

A hunter orange hat and vest, shirt, or coat are required while hunting. During the youth portion of the season, both the youth hunter and any accompanying adult mentor must wear hunter orange.
