SV’s Monier signs to play with Missouri Baptist basketball

There’s a first time for everything.
St. Vincent senior Blake Monier signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Missouri Baptist University next year on Thursday in the St. Vincent High School library. St. Vincent basketball coach Bruce Valleroy believes it is the first St. Vincent boys player to commit to play college basketball.
“I think Missouri Baptist is getting a great overall player,” Valleroy said. “He can play at both ends of the floor. Offensively he has the skills to take the ball to the basket and looks for other people. Defensively, he is very active. He has long arms and tricks you out there when he guards you. They are getting someone who will play hard and has the fundamentals and does everything the coach asks of him.”

Monier led St. Vincent in scoring at 15.8 points per game and in assists at 2.6 per game. Monier also grabbed 5.2 rebounds per game.
“Blake was a little bit of everything for us this year and will be sorely missed,” Valleroy said.
Valleroy is glad that Monier is the first player to commit to play basketball.
“A lot of our kids don’t want to play sports, but want to be students,” he said. “We’ve had quite a few go on to play football, or soccer or other sports. I feel proud and I’m very happy for him and can’t wait to see him play.”
