Second-seeded Saxony Lutheran (15-19) defeated third-seeded Fredericktown 3-0 in the Class 3 District 1 Tournament semifinals Monday at Dexter High School.
The Lady Crusaders, who entered district play on the heels of a 3-1 loss to Portageville last week, cruised to a 25-18, 25-6, 25-21 victory over the Blackcats (15-17-1) to earn a trip to the district final Tuesday night, where they were scheduled to face Kennett (22-14) for the district title.
The Lady Crusaders, who defeated Kennett 3-0 on Oct. 13, advanced to the district final for the eighth time in the past nine years.
In the Class 2 District 2 semifinal at Charleston, top-seeded St. Vincent (23- 6-2) defeated No. 4 Puxico 3-1 — 25-15, 23-25, 25- 10, 25-15 — to advance to Tuesday’s final, where they were scheduled to face No. 2 Woodland (13-11-2), a 3-0 winner over No. 3 Scott City in the semifinals.
St. Vincent has won a district title four times in the past five years, including a third-place state finish last season.
In the Class 4, District 1 tournament in Cape Girardeau, No. 5 Perryville lost 3-0 — 17-25, 15-25, 22-25 — to No. 4 West Plains (26- 6-3) in the first round, finishing their season with a record of 10-18-2.
