Saxony Lutheran senior outfielder Brayden Moore was 3-for-4 at the plate with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, teammate Kai McDowell, a freshman, was 3-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored, and sophomore James Hope was 2-for-2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored as the Crusaders (9-7) rolled to a 10-5 victory over visiting Advance (7-10) on May 1.
The Crusaders took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after four RBI hits — a double from Moore and singles from Korby Engert, James Hope and Baylor Wilson — drove in 5 runs to make it 5-0.
Advance scored two in the top of the fifth, but Saxony didn’t let up, adding five more in the bottom of the inning to go up 10-2, this time getting the 5 runs off RBI singles from Engert, Hope, and McDowell, and a 2-RBI double from Cole Roth.
Engert earned the win for Saxony, allowing 4 runs, 2 earned on 9 hits over 6 innings, striking out 5 and walking 2. Kadon Rodgers took the loss for Advance, giving up 10 runs, 9 earned, on 11 hits in 4 1/3 inning, striking out 3 and walking 1.
Saxony finished with 13 hits in the game, while Advance totaled 9, led by Braxton Kennedy, who went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Jameson Hamlin collected two hits for Advance Varsity Hornets in four at bats.

BELL CITY — Pitching played a big role as Saxony Lutheran outhit Bell City, but still suffered a 2-0 road loss on April 30.
Zach Roth, James Hope, and Korby Engert each had one hit for Saxony Lutheran.
On the mound, both teams performed well, with Bell City pitchers striking out 7, a number matched by Saxony Lutheran.
Bell City scored both its runs in the bottom of the fifth, when Jake Asher singled down the right field line, and Landon Stewart lined out, each scoring one run.
Asher earned the victory for Bell City after giving up 3 hits in 7 innings, striking out 7, and walking 1. Cole Roth took the loss for Saxony after giving up 2 runs on 1 hit in 4 ⅔ innings, striking out 6 and walking 4.
