CHAFFEE 12, SAXONY LUTHERAN 0
CHAFFEE — Chaffee scored five runs in the third inning and six in the fourth on the way to a 12-0 victory over visiting Saxony Lutheran on Thursday.
The Lady Red Devils (8-1) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI double from Paizleigh Graham, then extended their lead in the third with five runs on four hits, including a 3-run single from Ashtyn Rhodes.
Chaffee added six more runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth, including a 2-run single from Leah Vandeven, another from Jersie Lynn, and an RBI double from Jocelyn Hanlon. Carlyanne Cossou earned the victory for Chaffee after holding the Lady Crusaders (8-3) to 1 hit in 5 innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Natalie Brown took the loss for Saxony Lutheran after giving up nine runs on six hits, striking out none and walking five in three innings. Ohna Boland collected Saxony’s only hit, finishing 1-for-2 at the plate. Chaffee tallied 11 hits in the game.
SAXONY LUTHERAN 21, SIKESTON 4
SIKESTON — Saxony Lutheran scored 11 runs in the first two innings and added 10 more in the third on the way to a 21-4 road victory over host Sikeston on Wednesday.
The Lady Crusaders jumped out to 9-0 lead in the top of the first after Kessly Scholl and Madilynn Hager each drew a bases-loaded walk, Natalie Brown hit a 2-run single, Kinley Faulkenberry hit a 2-run triple, Bridget Wilson hit an RBI single, and Ansley Palisch added a 2-run double.
Saxony Lutheran added to their early lead in the second inning after Wilson lined out, and Boland singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Trailing 11-0, the Lady Bulldogs managed three runs in the bottom of the second, before Saxony charged ahead with 10 runs on three hits, four bases-loaded walks and two hit batters.
Mabrie Barke earned the win for Saxony Lutheran, allowing four runs — one earned — on six hits in three innings, striking out three and walking one. Brown and Boland both finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Brown, Wilson, Palisch, and Faulkenberry each drove in three runs. Saxony Lutheran finished the game with 13 walks.
SAXONY LUTHERAN 17, CAPE CENTRAL 1
CAPE GIRARDEAU — Ansley Palisch drove in four runs on four hits to lead Saxony Lutheran to a 17-1 victory over host Cape Central on Tuesday.
Palisch tripled in the first for two RBI, then added RBI singles in the third and fifth innings. Freshman Madilynn Hager struck out 10 batters on the day and gave up one run on four hits over five innings, walking two. Behind Palisch’s triple, Saxony 3-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI-single from Kessly Scholl, then added three more in the second on an RBI double from Ohna Boland and a 1-run single from Kessly Scholl singled.
Madilynn Hager grounded into a fielder’s choice to make it 6-0. In the third inning, Saxony Lutheran scored six runs on four hits on two errors, Palisch’s single, and a 2-run single from Scholl. Hager grounded out, scoring one run to make it 12-0.
The Lady Crusaders padded their lead with five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth, as Emma Leible singled in a run, Kinsley Marsh and Halle Christisen each drew a bases-loaded walk, and Palisch singled for her fourth RBI. Marsh stole home to make it 17-0. Saxony Lutheran finished with 14 hits in the game.
