SCOTT CITY — The Saxony Lutheran girls track team finished first at the Scott City Open held April 14 at Scott City High School.
On the girls’ side, Saxony totaled 161 points, easily topping second-place Kelly (111.5) and third-place Chaffee (95.5). On the boys’ side, the Crusaders finished with 106 points, just behind first-place finisher Scott City at 140. Kelley was third at 97.
Junior pole vaulter Casey Call continued her chase of the top spot in Class 2, clearing a new personal best of 3.35 meters for first place at the meet. Call’s teammate, Sarah Seabaugh, was second at 2.44.
Call’s vault left her in the No. 2 spot in the Mo.MileSplit.com Class 2 rankings behind Butler’s Tandee Hiser, who recorded a vault of 3.66 meters on March 31.
Statewide, Call is one of six tied for the No. 11 spot. The top spot is held by Alyssa Carver of Grain Valley with a height of 3.75 meters set on April 12.
Call wasn’t the only Lady Crusader to turn in a winning performance. Myra Roth finished first in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 48.02 seconds, leading teammates Raylee Matthews (3rd, 2:53.11), Kenzie Keys (4th, 2:58.50), and Olivia Petzoldt (9th, 3:26.79); and first in the 1,600 with a time of 5:59.37, ahead of teammate Adalyn Brandhorst (3rd, 6:24.81).
Rebecca Yunck was first in the long jump (4.74), ahead of Matthews (3rd, 4.57), and Ashley Perkins (4.02); and the javelin (31.08), topping teammates Call (5th, 25.12) and Alivia Miget (6th, 23.49).
Call also finished second in the 300 hurdles at 53.34, third in the high jump at 1.32 meters, tying teammate Shyanne Weibrecht ahead of Saxony’s Amelia Hicks (7th, 1.27).
Weibrecht finished seventh in the 200 with a time of 31.24; Eva Williamson was seventh in the 400 at 1:15.14, ahead of Amelia Hicks (9th, 1:26.24); and Ashley Perkins was eighth in the discus at 19.58.
In relays, Saxony was first in the 1,600 meters at 4:53.37 and the 3,200 with a time of 12:50.72, and second in the 400 (55.14) and 800 (1:57.75).
On the boys’ side, Maksim Mayhew was first in the 400, finishing in 54.14 seconds, Weston Jeter was first in the triple jump at 11.33 meters; Jacob Schupp was first in the pole vault, clearing 2.74 meters; and Clark Jones was first in the long jump at 6.03 meters, ahead of Mayhew (4th, 5.67, and Jeter (5th, 5.53).
Schupp was second in the 800 in 2:24.39 and the 3,200, finishing in 12:09.10, ahead of teammate Matthew Hitt (3rd, 12:48.06); and Jonas Hohenadel was second in the 300 hurdles at 49.24.
Jeter was third in the 100 at 11.84, Mayhew was fourth in 11.94, and Clark Jones sixth in 12.24; Kael Walker was fourth in the 200 at 26.54; Jones was sixth in the javelin at 36.27, ahead of teammate Jake Biri (10th, 36.27), Hitt was sixth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:40.00; and Biri was sixth in the discus at 29.03, ahead of Joseph Baker (10th, 25.32).
PHS girls 16th, boys 13th
FARMINGTON — Ellie Gerler finished second in the shot put with a final distance of 10.45 meters, and Ben Huber was third in the discus at 40.46 to lead the Perryville girls track team to a 16th place finish and the boys to a 13th place finish at the 2025 Simpson Relays on April 16 in Farmington.
On the girls’ side, Festus claimed the team title with 159.50 points, while Perryville totaled 15.5. Festus also claimed the boys title with 125 points, while Perryville finished with 17.5.
In other events for the Lady Pirates, Lucy Blythe was sixth in the 3,200 meters with a time of 14 minutes, 7.44 seconds, Ellie Gerler was sixth in the discus at 29.26 meters, and Annabelle Del Rosario was eighth in the pole vault, clearing 2.13 meters.
Perryville’s relay teams were eighth in the 3,200 (12:26.83) and 10th in the 1,600 (5:27.16).
On the boys’ side, Xzyavier Wilson was fourth in the long jump at 6.08, Dezmen Hampson was fifth in the high jump at 1.73, Kayd Luckey was sixth in the 800 meters at 2:08.53, Cabren Kirn was ninth in the shot put at 12.45, and Clayton Bauwens was 10th in the 1,600, finishing in 4:54.75.
Indians finish sixth
DESOTO — The St. Vincent boys track team finished sixth and the girls finished eighth at the DeSoto High School Invitational on April 11 at J.C. Culwell Stadium.
On the boys’ side, St. Vincent had 65 points, ahead of Perryville, which finished eighth with 43. The Lady Indians collected 46 points in the meet, just ahead of ninth-place Perryville, who had 37. North County won the boys’ title with 136.5 points and Union claimed the girls title with 110.
For the St. Vincent boys, Clayton Gremaud was first in the 400 with a time of 52.63 seconds and third in the 200 at 23.77; James Unterreiner was second in the 400 at 54.78; Carter Hennemann was second in the 1,600 at 4:37.09 and third in the 800 at 2:04.06.
Kale Meyer was fifth in the 200 at 23.86 and sixth in the 100 at 11.93; Kellan Pitts was fourth in the high jump at 1.63 meters; Ethan Hotop was seventh in the 3,200 at 11:18.07; Jackson Seabaugh was ninth in the 100 at 12.07; and Mason Naeger was 10th in the triple jump at 10.23.
The Indians’ 800 relay was third in 1:35.36, the 1,600 relay was third in 3:41.17, and the 3,200 relay was eighth in 10:01.73.
For Perryville, Ben Huber was first in the discus at 44.35 meters, ahead of teammate Destyn Morgan, who was third at 41.33; Dezmen Hampson was third in the high jump at 1.73 and seventh in the 200 at 24.87; Kayd Luckey was fifth in the 800 in 2:07.64, Xzyavier Wilson was fifth in the long jump at 5.88 and sixth in the high jump at 1.58; Cabren Kirn was fifth in the shot put at 13.32 meters, ahead of Morgan, who was eighth at 11.74; Jacob Goehman was ninth in the triple jump at 10.66; and Preston Cooper was 10th in the 400 at 59.75.
Perryville’s boys’ 400 relay was seventh (47.93), the 800 relay was eighth (1:45.44), and the 1,600 relay was ninth (4:06.34).
Individually for the St. Vincent girls, Reagan Meyer finished first in the 800 at 2 minutes, 25.01 seconds and first in the 1,600 at 5:27.58; Anna Welker finished third in the 3,200 at 13:56.82 and fourth in the 1,600 at 6:20.30; Brigid Sauer was third in the triple jump at 9.45 meters and ninth in the high jump at 1.27; Sophia Taylor was fourth in the triple jump at 9.33; Audrey Amschler was eighth in the 3,200 in 15:46.88; and Jenna Unterreiner was 10th in the javelin at 23.21.
St. Vincent’s girls 1,600 relay was seventh (4:33.85), the 800 relay was eighth (2:01.56) and the 400 relay was 10th in 57.93.
