Piranhas perform well at Jackson

The Perryville Piranhas swim team racked up 13 first-place finishes at the Jackson Swim Meet on June 15 in Jackson. Other teams competing in the event were the host Jackson Barracudas, River City Aquatics, Ste. Genevieve Stingrays and the Farmington Area Swim Team. For Perryville, Darci Sullins, Nadilyn Sullins, Lux Meyer and Vida Wilson finished first in the Girls 9-10 100 SC Meter Medley Relay with a time of 1 minute, 53.28 seconds; Emmitt Sander won the Boys 8 & Under 25 SC Meter Freestyle in 20.73 seconds; Meyer won the Girls 9-10 50 SC Meter Freestyle in 33.94; Mylia Redecker won the Girls 6 & Under 25 SC Meter Backstroke in 53.82; Sander won the Boys 8 & Under 25 SC Meter Backstroke in 26.20; Kyler Kugel won the Boys 13-14 100 SC Meter Backstroke in 1:25.89; Sander won the Boys 8 & Under 25 SC Meter Breaststroke in 28.58; Meyer won the Girls 9-10 50 SC Meter Breaststroke in 46.82; Sage Wolk won the Boys 11-12 50 SC Meter Breaststroke in 49.83; Meyer won the Girls 9-10 50 SC Meter Butterfly in 37.90; Sander won the Boys 8 & Under 50 SC Meter Freestyle in 49.15; Sander won the Boys 8 & Under 100 SC Meter IM in 2:10.51; Wilson, Darci Sullins, Nadilyn Sullins and Metyer won the Girls 9-10 100 SC Meter Freestyle Relay in 1:40.0; and Sage Wolk, Jackson Kugel, Elliott Kugel and Joel Schupp won the Boys 11-12 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay in 2:59.26. The Piranhas competed in Farmington on June 22 and will head to Poplar Bluss on June 29 for a Junior Olympic qualifier before hosting a home meet on July 6. The league championship meet will be held on July 13 in Cape Girardeau.
