Perryville softball ends season with shutout loss to Notre Dame

When a team gets to the district tournament, they must play their best softball.
Perryville failed to do that as they fell to Notre Dame 11-0 in five innings in the Class 4, District 1 tournament semifinals Thursday in Farmington.
The second-seed Bulldogs scored at least one run in four of the five innings to capture the victory. Perryville helped the Bulldogs out in their quest with six errors in the game.
Notre Dame was led by Kadi Dohogne and Ainsley Burnett with three hits apiece as the Bulldogs collected nine in the game. Hailey Burnett also added a three-run homerun in the fifth.
Hailey Burnett dominated in the circle giving up just three hits in four innings and two strikeouts. Caroline Gremaud, Rhylee Wengert, and Breanna White each collected hits for Perryville. Alyson Stortz went 4 innings giving up nine hits, 11 runs (five earned) with four strikeouts and two walks.
Perryville finished the season the season 13-12 and will graduate four seniors (Alyson Stortz, Julie Morris, Breanna White, and Carlie Holdman) Notre Dame went on to defeat Farmington 8-5 in the district championship game Friday.
