Perryville hosts state EDA officials

Perryville hosted several high ranking officials earlier this month.
Perryville Executive Director of Economic Development Crystal Jones and Perryville City Administrator Brent Buerck hosted the Acting Director of Missouri Department of Economic Development Michelle Hataway, CEO of Missouri Partnership Subash Alias, and Attorney for Gilmore and Bell Mark Grimm.
Buerck went on a trade mission to Japan earlier this year with Hataway and Alias. He went overseas to speak with TG-Missouri leadership in Japan and like Buerck does on a regular basis, he spoke on the good qualities of Perryville. The high-ranking officials visited came to Perryville and visited the TG-Missouri location, along with The Bank of Missouri, Gilster Mary-Lee and West Star Aviation.
“I think it’s the first time they have ever visited Perryville”, Jones said. “It’s the first time they ever went on the road and visited a community like this. They go to grand openings and ribbon cuttings, and those sort of things. In terms of just coming to a community and doing a tour, it’s the first time they have done that. We were honored to have them here.”

Jones said it was great to be able to showcase Perryville in that way.
“I think they were impressed,” Jones said. “We showed them all the local sights such as the National Shrine and MNVM, the tractor museum, and we also did the tour of the businesses.”
Perryville consistently partners with the state EDA for various things and Jones hopes that the tour turns into something down the road.
“We work with them closely, so it was good to have them here so they could see all of the community assets that we have,” Jones said. “Hopefully, this will help when we are in conversation with them about Perryville and Perry County. This will help them visualize all the unique opportunities that we have here to leverage some additional support in the future.”
