The Perry County University of Missouri Extension Center is hosting two eight-week Stay Strong, Stay Healthy strength training programs for middle-aged and older adults who are looking to build strength, improve balance, and live a more independent lifestyle. Building strength promotes quality of life and independence, especially for adults over 50.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Levels 2 and 3 will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Level 2 will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Level 3 will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., beginning Thursday, Sept. 19, and continuing through November. Participation in these courses require instructor approval and a brief physical assessment if the participant has not previously completed Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Level 1.

Classes will be held at the Perryville Methodist Church, 314 W North Street. Registration deadline is Sept. 12. Space is limited.

Due to support from the Perry County Senior Citizens Tax Commission, these classes are free to Perry County residents aged 55 and older. A $50 fee will be charged for those under the age of 55 or non-residents of Perry County. To register or for additional information, call the Perry County Extension Center at 573-547-4504 or e-mail perryco@missouri.edu. The Perry County Senior Tax Commission and the Perry County Extension Council are sponsoring these classes.
