Military Trails of Missouri Passport Program in transition

Posted

The Military Trails of Missouri Passport Program, an initiative to honor and preserve Missouri's rich military history, is announcing a transitional phase as it concludes its last round of site coins. The program will continue with stamps and completion coins to mark participants' journeys across 12 museums, memorials and Civil War battle sites.

Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial in Perryville is among the 12 participating in the program.

The decision to transition from site coins to stamps and introduce completion coins reflects the program's commitment to evolving with participants' changing needs and preferences. Stamps will serve as a convenient and collectible way for visitors to commemorate their visits to each site. At the same time, completion coins will offer a tangible reward for those who complete the entire passport journey.

The last round of site coins will be available for collection while supplies last. Participants are encouraged to visit the program's website at mohumanities.org/military-trails/ for more information on participating sites.

Since its inception, the Military Trails of Missouri Passport Program has been instrumental in educating and engaging visitors about the significant role the state has played in various military conflicts throughout history. Through partnerships with historical sites, museums, and cultural institutions across the state, the program has provided participants with an immersive experience, allowing them to explore firsthand the legacies of bravery, sacrifice, and resilience that define Missouri's military heritage.

The Military Trails of Missouri program invites families and individuals to visit military museums, memorials, and battlefields throughout Missouri to learn about the state’s rich military history.

The adventure begins by picking up a special keepsake passport booklet at one of the 12 participating locations. The participant will keep the passport that serves as an information guide, inviting participants to discover each site's military stories.

As one goes from site to site collecting commemorative stamps, they’ll learn about Missouri’s connection to military-related events that span through time, from the Revolutionary War through modern-day warfare to the state’s veterans, military heroes, and leaders. Those who visit all 12 sites will learn more about the history and earn their very own completion coin.

The Military Trails of Missouri provides participants with an opportunity to combine a range of military historical events with a fun and educational Missouri vacation or multiple-day trips.
