Learn the art of fly-tying with MDC in Columbia

Posted

COLUMBIA — Anglers interested in learning a new winter skill are invited to attend a free beginner fly-tying workshop hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The program will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Missouri Department of Conservation Central Regional Office, located at 3500 E. Gans Road.

Designed for participants ages 18 and older, the workshop will introduce the basics of fly-tying and teach several simple fly patterns commonly used to catch a variety of fish. Fly-tying allows anglers to customize flies for specific fishing conditions and species, and many find added satisfaction in catching fish with flies they’ve made themselves.

All materials will be provided, and the event is free to the public. Registration is required and can be completed online at http://short.mdc. mo.gov/o3R.

Questions about the workshop may be directed to Brian Flowers, MDC conservation educator, at brian. flowers@mdc.mo.gov.

The Missouri Department of Conservation is committed to accessibility at all nature centers, regional facilities and conservation areas. To request an ADA accommodation for participation in MDC programs, visit https:// mdc.mo.gov/accessibility.
