ST. LOUIS — The St. Vincent Lady Indians claimed second place in the Silver Division at the annual Visitation Tournament in St. Louis on Saturday.
St. Vincent lost its opening game to Oakville 0–3 (18-25, 22-25, 20-25), but rallied to beat Francis Howell North 3–0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-15) in the second game.
In bracket play, St. Vincent topped Visitation Academy 2–0 (25-14, 25-20) before falling to Westminster Christian Academy 0–2 (18-25, 13-25) in the final round.
St. Vincent activities director Jack Rigdon, serving as interim coach, said the team performed well.
“Our girls did a really great job,” Rigdon said. “You see a lot of great competition up there, and I think those are really great tests for our girls getting to come up and play against them. I think our girls did a great job going out and competing with them.
“I look at it as getting these girls ready for the end of the year when they get into district and sectional play and getting to play in tournaments — this just only is going to make them better.”
