The St. Vincent girls basketball team is starting the season off with plenty of fireworks, winning its first six contests of the year. That was never more evident than the team’s performance against Bismarck Dec. 6.
St. Vincent won the battle of the Indians, by splashing home 11 three-pointers which set a school record. The old record was 10 three-pointers set back in the 2017-2018 season.
Cailyn Prost led the team with five three-pointers, while Allie Patrick had three and Haley Emmendorfer had two. Lana Adams added one on the night, one of which four players had double figures in points.

“It’s pretty awesome to set a record like that,” St. Vincent coach Mel Kirn said. “I knew we were close, but I didn’t realize until after the game that we had broken the record. The girls played well and always seemed to find the open teammate.”
St. Vincent scored 20 points in the third quarter alone, and Prost hit a trio of three-pointers within the first two minutes of the second half. The Indians hit four three-pointers in the third quarter.
The record setting performance is the cherry on top of the sundae that is the Indians’ season which has seen them win five of their six games by at least 14 points. The Indians won the 50th annual Valle Catholic Tournament in runaway fashion, winning the three games by an average of 32 points.
St. Vincent (6-0) will continue its season when it travels to Jefferson R-7 (5-1) for a conference matchup with the Bluejays Dec. 19 at 7 p.m
