Jan Tyler (JT) Congdon, 29, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Perryville left this earth on Wednesday April 26, 2023. A Celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 29, at his family home.
He was born on March 10, 1994 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jan and Tonya (Thompson) Congdon. JT was a graduate of Perryville High School Class of 2012. Following high school JT went on to Join the Navy in his father and big brother’s foot steps where he served for 3 years. He loved helping out his mom with her farm animals and projects.
“He was a giant among men (literally). I love him beyond measure. The love he gave to our children was whimsical and true. My baby bump when I asked for my first baby doll. Gave the largest hugs and provided a witty quip at always the right moment,” according to his big sister Brittnee.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his maternal grandparents Cecil and Sylvia Thompson and Kathy Radel and cousin Hannah all of Steelville, MO; Paternal grandparents Jan and Linda Congdon of Arcadia, Fla., and Keith and Betty Baker of Lake City, Fla., one sister and brother-in-law Eli and Brittnee Sherwood of St. Charles; One brother Talon Congdon (Hannah) of Jackson, a special sister-in-law Kailey Congdon of Jackson, adopted sister Suzanne and Gary Dale of Elyria, Ohio; Aunts and Uncles: Jennifer Congdon of Jacksonville, Fla., Tammy and Jon Rice of Steelville, Michael and Patti Thompson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Matt and Meghan Thompson of Toole, Utah, Tiffany Thompson of Spurger, Texas and Ryan Radel of Cape Girardeau; Nieces and nephews Mileigh, Mattylyn, Avery, Corran, Theodore, Esper, Elliot and Endi.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his parents.
Arrangements are being handled by Cains Funeral Home and Cremation in Cape Girardeau.
