Jackson’s hot start powers past St. Vincent

It was a classic battle between a big and small school and unfortunately for St. Vincent, the chance for an upset or Cinderella story was quickly extingiused minutes into the contest.
Jackson jumped out to a big lead and St. Vincent never recovered as Jackson won the battle of the Indians 51-32 in the third place game of the First State Community Bank Holiday Classic at the Show-Me Center.
With St. Vincent’s best two players sidelined with injuries, the Indians struggled to generate any offense. Jackson jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter with a lay-up by Cailyn Prost with 10 seconds left in the opening quarter was the only points St. Vincent could muster in the frame as Jackson led 16-2.

The second quarter saw St. Vincent hit a few more shots as Haley Emmendorfer hit a three-pointer to bring St. Vincent within 23-7, but that was as close as it really came.
Emmendorfer led St. Vincent with six points as no player scored double digits for the Indians. Holland Guilliams led the way with 17 points, 15 of which came in the first half. Camryn Alsdorf scored 13 points including seven in the fourth quarter, and Katherine St. John added 11 points.
Guilliams averaged 22 points per game throughout the tournament, and was named to the All-Tournament team. The second half was pretty even and St. Vincent held a 22-20 edge in the second half, but it was too little too late for any sort of comeback.
Rylee Robinson was named to the All-Tournament team for St. Vincent after scoring 26 in the second round against Kelly and hit the game-winning shot to put St. Vincent into the semifinals.
