Busy week for cross country teams

Perryville and St. Vincent’s cross country squads had a busy week, competing in Perryville Tuesday and at Notre Dame Saturday.

As hosts Tuesday, Perryville’s boys and girls teams both took fifth place finishes.

The boys team was led by sophomore Easton Blechle, who finished the 5000-meter run in 19 minutes and 35.70 seconds, good enough for fifth overall in a field of 65 runners. Colton O’Keefe was 29th at 21:47.80, Aidan Unverferth was 38th at 22:39.70, Cale Austin was 39th at 22:42.40, Blake Maybearry was 57th at 26:30.30, Adrian Ernst was 63rd at 28:12, Finley Moran was 64th at 28:50.70, and Landon O’Day was 65th at 28:51.40.

The girls team was led by senior Lucy Blythem who finished in 16th overall at 25:30.50. Anna Rehagen was 25th at 26:34.90, Addelynne Kirn was 26th at 26:43.60, Esveidy Antonio Garcia was 28th at 27:15 and Grace Buchheit was 29th at 29:17.60.

Both St. Vincent teams took fourth place finishes.

Junior Caden Hadler led the boys team with a finish of 19:55. Collin Tilley was 17th at 20:49.40, Adam Rahn was 31st at 21:50.60, Trever Welker was 32nd at 21:51.50 and Tristin Anders was 50th at 23:45.

The Lady Indians competed without their top runner Anna Welker and still managed a fourth place finish. They were led by freshman Aubrey Mattingly’s 10th place finish of 24:30.50. Adeline Carlton was 13th at 25:01.70, Kiera Berry was 32nd at 28:57.90, Alexsyn Schnurbusch was 34th at 29:03.80, Reese Leible was 39th at 30:35.70, Adele Ryan was 46th at 31:59.10 and Neva Brown was 47th at 33:30.10.

Both schools, along with Saxony Lutheran, competed four days later in the Notre Dame invitational. Saxony Lutheran finished second in both the boys and girls 5000-meter run as a team. On the boys side, St. Vincent finished third and Perryville finished 10th. Neither Perryville or St. Vincent posted a team score on the girls side.

The Crusaders were led by a ninth place overall finish from senior Nicolas Chambless, who completed the 5000-meter run in 18:04.90. Evan Ward was 29th at 19:15.60, Brady Keys was 34th at 19:32.70, Conrad Bradhorst was 36th at 19:37.10, Jacob Schupp was 41st at 19:48.20, Simon May was 55th at 20:14.70, Jackson Hager was 89th at 22:01.60.

Carter Hennemann, a week removed from his personal and school best finish, led the St. Vincent boys with a time of 17:12.30. The second fastest in the field of more than 100 runners. Luke Ryan finished 15th at 18:17.80, Jackson Strattman was 28th at 19:09.50, Caden Hadler was 30th at 19:15.90, Trever Welker was 70th at 21:01.20. Tristin Anders was 104th at 24:15.20.

The PHS boys team was led by Easton Blechle, who finished with a time of 19:03, good for 25th overall. Colton O’Keefe finished 75th at 21:14.20, Cale Austin was 77th at 21:16.90, Aidan Unverferth was 94th at 22:34 and Jonathon Randolph was 96th at 22:50.40.

Briley Meyr led the runner up Lady Crusaders with an 8th place overall finish of 21:29.40. Raylee Matthews finished 17th at 22:52.60. Emmy Bangston was 22nd at 23:25.20, Adalyn Bradhorst was 25th at 23:51.10, Eva Williamson was 32nd at 25:53.70, Muriel Brummel was 34th at 26:00.10 and Lydia Hitt was 40th at 26:47.

Anna Welker, the lone runner for St. Vincent finished second overall with a time of 20:40.10.

Perryville brought two runners on the girls side. Lucy Blythe finished 39th at 26:45.60 and Anna Rehagen finished 41st at 26:54.
