The Mayor’s Cup Tournament returns this Saturday to the Perry Park Center for its 26th annual showcase of hometown basketball talent, where the Perryville Pirates and St. Vincent Indians will go head-to-head beginning at noon with the junior varsity girls’ game and the junior varsity boys’ game at 1:30 p.m., continuing at 3 p.m. with the varsity girls’ game and culminating with the varsity boys’ game at 4:30 p.m.
The event is open to the public with $5 admission for adults and $3 for students.
The SVHS Choir will sing the National Anthem before the varsity girls’ game, and the PHS Choir will perform prior to the varsity boys’ game.
The SVHS Cheerleaders will perform during halftime of the varsity girls’ game, and the PHS Cheerleaders will perform during halftime of the varsity boys’ game.
The PHS student section will be in the bleachers directly behind its bench to the left of the scorers’ table. The SVHS student section will be directly across from their bench near the garage door.
Last year, the Perryville girls’ basketball team won their game against St. Vincent 39-30, while the St. Vincent boys’ basketball team won their game over the Pirates 75-51. The Perryville boys last won in 2019 with a score of 66-56.
