The weather hasn’t been too kind to Perryville after several snowstorms and an ice storm, culminating in a tornado that significantly damaged homes, farms, businesses and schools.
Now, a whimsical fundraiser to help raise money for the Tornado Relief Fund called Bucks 4 Beards is underway. It focuses on the beard of City Administrator Brent Buerck and a chance to raise funds for a good cause and give him a shave in one of three different styles, depending on how much cash is donated.
A flier explaining the fundraiser reads as follows:
“Many great influential men throughout history have sported the old chin scarf: Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Walt Whitman, John Muir, Benjamin Harrison and James “Grizzly” Adams. We grow ’em big and bushy right here in good old Perry County, too. If you are lucky enough to know this Whimsical Whisker Warden of Perryville, you may have noticed the years of wisdom perfectly modeled on his mug. In the name of disaster relief and to continue to serve our community in every possible capacity, Brent ‘the Bearded Baron’ Buerck has graciously lent his Cuddly Canvas to the whim and will of the voters of Perry County.
"If you want a say-so in the new facial do of our beloved city administrator, hop on down to the Perry Park Center and donate in the jar of whichever style you deem the most fitting. Whether it be the (1) Monkey Tail, (2) the Batman, or the (3) Mr. T (Mohawk included), you will come face-to-face with it at city hall for one week starting April 16th. All proceeds will go to disaster relief for citizens affected by the tornado.”
So, choose your choice for Brent Buerck’s new “look” and vote, vote, vote before the April 14 deadline!
