Stephen Paul Buchheit, age 67, of Cape Girardeau, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his home.

He was born on May 23, 1958, to Carl and Rose (Robinson) Buchheit in Perryville.

On September 26, 1987, he married Pamela Hayes, and they have been with one another for more than 38 years.

Stephen was a graduate of St. Vincent’s in Perryville. He started learning his trade at an early age from his grandfather, Edward G. Robinson of Robinson Heating and Air in Perryville. He continued that trade when he moved to Cape Girardeau at Jaymac Heating and Air until he opened his own business, R & B Mechanical. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1111.

Stephen was someone who could light up any room just by walking into it. He had a way of bringing joy, laughter and comfort to everyone around him, no matter the circumstance. He never met a stranger and was never short of stories to share. Stephen loved his work and the many customers he served, but his pride and joy was his family, especially his wife, Pam, and their two sons, Joshua and Jonathan. His family will miss his love and heavenly smile.

Survivors include his wife, Pam; two sons, Joshua Buchheit and Jonathan Buchheit (fiancé, Kelly Gerrein); father, Carl; siblings, Tom (Lisa) Buchheit, David (Beth) Buchheit, Joe (Lynn) Buchheit, Mike (Michelle) Buchheit and Janet Buchheit.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Edward Robinson and August (Gus) and Loraine Buchheit. Stephen’s mother, Rose, passed away on November 18, 2025.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m., with Parish Prayers and Rosary at 4 p.m., at Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with Celebrant Father Patrick Nwokoye at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.

Interment followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
