Shirley May Buchheit, 87, of Friedheim, died on Thursday, February 2, 2023 in Cape Girardeau.
Shirley was born September 8, 1935 in Friedheim, daughter of Edwin P. and Ethel B (Meyers) Kurre. She and Leo Elmer Buchheit were married May 1, 1954 at St. Maurus Church in Biehle.
He preceded her in death on July 27, 2020.
Shirley was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She was the bookkeeper for Elmer Buchheit Construction, retiring in 2000. Upon retirement, Shirley and Elmer became “snowbirds”, traveling in their RV to Arizona for the winter months.
Shirley was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son, Brad Buchheit of Jackson; three grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Eftink of Chaffee, Stefanie (Greg) Kanneberg of Oak Ridge, and Zachary (Daniele) Buchheit of Friedheim; three great-grandchildren, Beka Newell, Madelyn, and Brayden Eftink.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Crites; a brother in law Kelly Crites; and beloved daughter-in-law, Cathey Buchheit.
Visitation was Sunday February 5, 2023 at Ford and Sons Mt Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral Mass was Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau with Father Alex Sutachan officiating.
Burial was in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
