Shirley Ann Mattingly, 85, of St. Mary, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born March 11, 1941, in Belgique to Elmer J. and Lorene (Streiler) Evans.

Shirley and Delano W. Mattingly were married June 7, 1958.

Delano preceded her in death Jan. 24, 2014.

Shirley was a faithful member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer and a member of the Ladies Sodality. She worked at Gilster-Mary Lee and the International Shoe Company. She was a great cook and enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing bingo. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her life was centered on her faith and her family, and she took great pride in caring for and spending time with those she loved.

She is survived by her 10 children: Leonard (Jenny) Mattingly of Perryville, Brenda (Leonard) Ellis of Huntsville, Texas, Susan (Matt) Jenkins of Cape Girardeau, Rosalie (Michael) Blechle of St. Louis, Edward (Nancy) Mattingly of Pevely, Donna (Jerry) Woods of Festus, Rose Mary (Jeff) Weibrecht of Perryville, Patricia (Luke) Borders of DeSoto, Ronald (Meghan) Mattingly of St. Mary and Kimberly (Troy) Pratt of DeSoto; 27 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Garris and Dolores Routon, both of Crosstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Robert, Roy, Raymond and Elmer; two sisters, Rosedell Mitchell and Jeanette Bohnert; and stepfather, Velmer Mehner.

Shirley will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart and dedication to her family. Her legacy of love and faith will continue through the many lives she touched.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and from 6:30 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, with the Rosary being prayed at 9 a.m.

A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, with Rev. Gerald Blessing officiating.

Burial was at the church cemetery.
