In loving memory of Samuel Cox, 76, of Ste. Genevieve, who was born on July 11, 1949, and passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025.
He served in the U.S. Army. Samuel was a member of American Legion Post 150, VFW 2210, and Ste. Genevieve Elks Lodge 2674. Sam “The Mailman” enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and reading, but most of all, he enjoyed his time with his friends and family. Samuel will always be remembered for his witty humor and storytelling.
He is survived by his special friend, Robin M. Wood; son, Jason (Special Friend Dani) Cox; daughter, Rachel (Jay) Wengert; daughter, Sara (Dan) Mitchell; daughter, Jennifer (Jamie) Lauck; daughter, Stacey (Bill) Shepard; sister, Gloria (Bob) Means; brother, Kenneth Cox; sister, Alana (Paul) Drury; brother, Charles (Roberta) Cox; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Linzie, Macy, Dustin, Taylor, Dane, Elise, Allison, Breanna, Bryce; and great-grandchildren, Waylon, Hallie, Colby, Lilly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Odell H. Cox; mother, Lena M. (Vest) Cox; and brother. Gary Cox.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and will continue from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Basler Funeral Home.
The burial will be held at Crestlawn Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve, with full military honors provided by VFW 2210.
Instead of flowers, memorials can be made to the Disabled Sportsman Association or Family Use.
