Rose Catherine Buchheit, 91, of Perryville, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South.
With a quiet spirit and a heart anchored in faith, Rose completed her earthly journey and returned to the Lord she served so faithfully.
Born on September 13, 1934, in Perryville, Rose was the cherished daughter of Edward G. and Mary (Buchheit) Robinson.
From her earliest years, she was formed by devotion to family, steadfast Catholic faith, and a spirit of service that would define her life.
On May 25, 1957, at the Church of the Assumption in Perryville, Rose married her beloved husband, Carl Buchheit. Their marriage of nearly seven decades was a true Christian vocation—marked by sacrifice, tenderness, and a shared commitment to family and to God.
Rose was a proud graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from DePaul School of Nursing. She dedicated much of her career to caring for others, working as a registered nurse at Perry County Memorial Hospital and later serving in various leadership roles at Perry County Nursing Home.
Her compassionate nature and commitment to her profession left a lasting impact on many lives. Rose was a member of the Ladies of Charity, Daughters of Isabella, and volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She, for a short period of time, shared her nursing skills and knowledge as a volunteer school nurse. Her kindness and compassion were felt by family, friend and stranger.
Rose is survived by her husband; four sons, Thomas (Lisa) Buchheit of Waterloo, IL, David (Beth) Buchheit of Creve Coeur, Joseph (Lynn) Buchheit of Augusta, Michael (Michelle) Buchheit of Mount Holly, NC; daughter, Janet Buchheit of Lyndhurst, Va.; two brothers, Frank (Joannie) Robinson of Perryville, Edward (Kathy) Robinson of Perryville; fifteen grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Cassie, Zach, Brianna, Maura, Tessa, Alex, Jenna and Anna, Paige, Claire, Jackie, Gus, Lily; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Owen, ViVi and Chloe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Stephen Buchheit, and two sisters, Yvonne Steinbecker and Marge Steinbecker.
The Buchheit family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time of loss of Rose (mom) and Stephen (brother). We recognize, value and appreciate the importance of family and community. You have brought us peace and comfort.
As we bid farewell to Rose Catherine Buchheit, let us carry forward her legacy of love and kindness, and find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her son, watching over us all with a heart full of love. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
