 Robert Paul “Bob” Ray, 89, of Perryville, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 24, 1936, in St. Louis, to Paul and Zoe Anna (Clark) Ray.

He and Francine Hurst were married April 27, 1957, in Overland.

Robert was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1263, Rotary Club of Perryville, and American Legion Post No. 133 Boosters.

He was an original founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Thrift Store.

He was the owner and operator of the Perryville KOA. He enjoyed spending time working on his coin collection.

Robert was very generous to anyone he met who was in need. He was very proud of his beloved family and was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a grandfather.

Survivors include a son, John (Sheila) Ray; a daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Ray-Layton; a brother, Edwin (Marita) Ray; five grandchildren, Adam (Amanda) Sippel, Matthew (Ashley Niccum) Sippel, Justin (Elizabeth) Ray, Katlyn (Garrett) Flentge, and Wesley Ray; three bonus grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three bonus great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ronald Ray.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Joe Geders, C.M., officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Afton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
