Richard James Colin, 84, of Perryville, entered eternal rest on May 12, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on November 15, 1940, in Menfro, to the late Amiel and Othella (Downing) Colin. Richard was a hard worker and retired as a boat pilot after 42 years of employment with the barge lines.

He enjoyed hunting and especially loved traveling out west with his buddies for hunting trips. Richard was a collector of tractors and loved antique tractor rides; he was most fond of John Deere. Lately, Richard really enjoyed spending time at the family’s farm. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sherry (Schwein) Colin, his children: Troy (wife, Pat) Colin and Tracy (husband, Tim) Kinney; eight grandchildren, Cody Colin, Elizabeth Thomson, Corey (wife, Brittany) Moll, Kyle Colin, Chad Colin, Patrina (husband, Scott) Jannin, Jason (wife, Robin) Lukefahr, and Tara (husband, Jerad) Keller; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Nyla; his sisters, Janet Harper and Barbara Garris; brothers-in-law, Jim Schwein of Evergreen, Colo., Don (Dot Kiefer) Schwein of Perryville; his sisters-in-law, Carole James of Bethany, Okla., and Debbie Colin of Perryville, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The extended family includes brother-in-law, Norman Wingerter; sisters-in-law, Joan Buchheit, June Vincent, Rose DeKamp, Carol Wingerter and LaDonna Oliver.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Colin and Stanley Colin; his sister, Jacqueline Brendt; his sister-in-law, LaVesta Colin; and his brother-in-law, Roy Garris.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held July 12, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 416 Main St., Perryville. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. with the service beginning at 4 p.m.
