Perryville High School sophomore Emma Blechle and seniors Waylon Huber, Barrett Wheeler, and Lydia Schlimpert diligently performed their detective work and, through their efforts, became the second-week winners of the Republic-Monitor’s Medallion Hunt. According to the four students — all high school athletes — this is their first time finding the medallion and claiming the $100 reward after an approximately two-and-a-half-hour search. The quartet found the clues quite challenging, admitting the key to figuring out the medallion’s location was all up to “how you interpret things.” One of the team members said their search for the medallion was helped by “thinking outside of the box.” While Blechle, Huber, Wheeler and Schlimpert can’t win the medallion hunt again this year, they look forward to giving it another try next year.
