Over the past week, the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) responded to six injury accidents, including a fatality taking place in Perry County or involving Perry County residents.
A Perryville man was killed in a crash involving two semi-trucks that occurred at 7:18 a.m. Monday, on Interstate 55, north of the Danby Road Overpass in Jefferson County.
According to the MSHP, the collision occurred when a northbound 2021 Freightliner Cascadia driven by a 49-year-old Perryville man, struck the rear of a northbound 2020 Peterbilt 389 driven by a 50-year-old Knoxville, Ala., man.
The Perryville man, wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was transported by the Jefferson County medical examiner to the St. Louis County Morgue.
The Knoxville, Ala., man, who was also wearing a seat belt at the time the accident occurred, was transported by Joachim Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson.
Pippins Towing removed the totaled Freightliner Cascadia and the moderately damaged 2020 Peterbilt 389 from the scene.
– A Perryville teen received minor injuries in a one-car crash that occurred at 9:45 p.m. March 12 on northbound Highway 61 at Mimosa Circle in Ste. Genevieve County.
The MSHP reports that the wreck took place when a northbound 2003 Ford Mustang driven by a 19-year-old Perryville man refused to stop for a traffic stop. In the ensuing pursuit, the Mustang ran off the roadway.
