Marilyn K. (Mattingly) Clippard, 71, of Festus, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis after a courageous battle with cancer.

Marilyn was born in Perryville on October 1, 1954.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Dan Clippard, two sons, Chris (Amber) Buchheit and Justin (Suzanne) Buchheit, and three granddaughters, Ella, Channing and Mattingly, and Marilyn’s best friend, Principe, her horse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Stella (Lawrence) Mattingly of Brewer, brother Paul, sister Joan, and her beloved dog Sugar.

Marilyn leaves a legacy as welcoming and warm as her cooking and as sweet as her famous chocolate cake. She was an avid baker, her cakes and cookies brought joy to countless children, grandchildren and co-workers for decades.

Marilyn found joy in the simple, everyday moments and was happiest spending her afternoon caring for her horses or with her hands in a flowerbed.

She took pride in her work and made lasting friendships with her colleagues. Her heart was fullest when she was with her family, and her granddaughters were her absolute pride and joy.

Following her wishes for cremation, there will be a memorial service on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home at 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis.
