Mahela O. Lueders, 95, of Frohna, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born September 29, 1929, in Wittenberg, to Arthur and Lina (Darnsteadt) Schmidt.
Mahela and Arthur “Sonny” Lueders were married on July 17, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2006.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), and the American Legion Post #133 Auxiliary. Mahela was an amazing seamstress. She loved watching and feeding the birds, as well as caring for her flowers.
Survivors include five daughters: Donna (Earl) Schuessler of Russellville, Patti (Henry) Kallal of Jerseyville, Ill., Vicki Turner of Caruthersville, Connie (Ilmer) Burroughs of Frohna, and Susan Scifers of Cape Girardeau; two sons: Stanley (Tammy) Lueders of Maryville, Tenn., and Ray Lueders of Chicago, Ill.; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Walter Schmidt, Marvin Schmidt, Gilbert Schmidt, and Harold Schmidt; and her beloved cat, Socksie.
Visitation took place from 8 to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna.
The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, with Rev. Paul Hoemann officiating.
Burial was at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Frohna.
Memorial contributions may be given to Concordia Lutheran Church or Journey Hospice.
