Keith S. Feltz, 72, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Keith was one of twin boys born October 19, 1953, in Perryville, to Edgar and Helen (Nesslein) Feltz.
Keith attended two rural Perry County two-room schoolhouses (Sereno and McBride) until the sixth grade before attending the consolidated Bois Brule Elementary School.
He attended Perryville High School, graduating in 1972.
Keith received a scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University, which he attended for three years before transferring to the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1977.
He accepted a position with Union Carbide at its K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where uranium was enriched for fuel for nuclear power plants. His position eventually ended due to consolidation of Union Carbide plants. At that point in his life, he chose to pursue a Peace Corps-type mission and joined VISTA, working at a halfway house helping former prisoners return to life and employment outside of prison.
After a year of service with VISTA, he returned to engineering with a British-owned company producing rubber seals and gaskets for the automotive and refrigeration industries. It was a job he loved because it took him to India, where he assisted in the construction and equipping of a similar plant. When that plant was later moved to another state, he concluded his engineering career at a plastic molding company that designed and built components for the automotive industry.
