It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of wife, mother, grandmother, and registered nurse Karen Louise Wolf, 77, of Chester, on March 2. She was born on Oct. 20, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, to Henry Edward Yount and Jean Bollinger Yount, who preceded her in death. She married Henry Wolf on June 6, 1969, in Ellinwood, Kan.

After graduating from Healdton High School in Oklahoma, she attended Oklahoma State University for two years before graduating from Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kan. Later, she received her bachelor's degree from Ft. Hays State University in 1992.

As a registered nurse, she worked for one year at Pratt Regional Hospital before working for 22 years at Hadley Regional Hospital in the operating room and as an assistant director of nursing. She also found time to teach a class at Ft. Hays University and work in the hospice program. In 1992, she began work as director of nursing at Memorial Hospital in Chester. For 20 years, staff and patients were her joy and pride.

She was a very active member in the Yount Cemetery Association and also served as a board committee representative. Karen's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Tracy) and Bradley. Her beaming smile from grandchildren Zoey, Micah, and Miriah was always seen when she attended softball and baseball games, as well as dance and voice recitals. She is survived by her brother, Henry Edward Yount Jr. (Barbara).

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Ford & Liley Funeral Home in Patton. The funeral service followed at 1 p.m., with Pastor Alex Niswonger officiating. Burial was at Patton Community Cemetery in Patton.

Karen's lifelong commitment to helping others will be her legacy for others to continue.
