John Fabian Karl, 91, of Perryville, formerly of Marion, Ill., passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at Independence Care Center.
He was born April 4, 1934, in Ste. Genevieve County to William A. and Agnes (Kirchner) Karl.
John and Stella M. Young were married June 8, 1957, at St. Mary of the Barrens. She survives in Perryville.
He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Survivors include three sons, Tom (Barbi) Karl, David (Rhonda) Karl and Jim (Tammy) Karl; two daughters, Cindy (Brian) Aubry and Suzy (Chad) Hope; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don (Ellen) Karl and Bill Karl; one sister, Sylvia (Tony) Suba; and a daughter-in-law, Paula Karl.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Fred Wandera, C.M., officiating.
Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Jefferson Barracks. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul School or Valle Catholic School.
