Jan Elizabeth Sibley, 78, of Perryville, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Holiday Residential Care in Perryville.
She was born April 17, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Frank and Berniece (Farris) Sibley.
She graduated from Sikeston High School in 1965, received her bachelor’s degree in library science from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau in 1969, and earned her master’s degree in library science from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1977.
Jan was an only child and was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by several cousins and many friends. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Perryville. Jan served as the librarian at Perry County School District 32 Elementary School in Perryville for 33 years. She later worked as the librarian at Riverside Regional Library in Perryville for 16 years, retiring in 2018. Among her favorite things were cats, books and traveling. She visited Australia three times, and her favorite destination was Williamsburg, Virginia, which she visited 17 times.
Jan was a generous person and leaves behind many cherished friends.
A private graveside service will be held at Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston next to her parents at a later date.
