James W. Lappe

James William Lappe, 94, of Arnold, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Delmar Gardens South in St. Louis.

He was born on October 23, 1930, in Friedheim, to Benjamin and Josephine (Blechle) Lappe.

He and Virginia Ann (Kirn) Lappe were married on February 20, 1954, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Perryville. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage. She survives in Perryville.

Jim was a welder. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial and the American Legion Post 133 in Perryville. Jim was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his son, Rick (Sharon) Lappe; daughter, Sandy (Marty) Kraus; four grandchildren, Jim (Jeanette) Lappe, Melissa (Jason) Pennycook, Lisa (Jake) Geeseman, and Lori (Tyler Barks) Kraus; and six great-grandchildren, Caden Lappe, Dylan Lappe, Skylar Pennycook, Riley Pennycook, Gavin Geeseman, and Brynley Geeseman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle with Rev. Michael Benz officiating. Followed by Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.

Burial was at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Missouri National Veterans Memorial in Perryville.
