The Perryville Fire Department responded to a call reporting a vehicle fire at 4:38 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in the 1400 block of Edgemont Blvd.

Upon arriving on the scene, firefighters found the vehicle, which they were told was a hybrid, with fire showing from the back hatch. The fire quickly spread throughout the entire vehicle, which was pulling a small trailer that also received fire damage.

Engine 1 arrived on the scene and began fire suppression. Citizen Electric was dispatched due to concern about an electric pole being exposed to extreme heat from the fire.

The street was blocked off for almost two hours before the situation was brought under control

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Perry County Towing. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
