At its March 3 meeting, the Perryville Board of Aldermen approved a request from HiWay Rodders’ to close St. Joseph Street from Shelby Street to West Street, as well as South Church Street and South Shelby Street on either side of the Knights of Columbus parking lot, to hold a car show

The request was close and utilizing the city parking lot adjacent to the fire department was also approved. They will provide barricades for the event. Barricades will be placed in a manner that does not restrict traffic entering or exiting Katy’s Liquor during the event.

The street closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9.

The HiWay Rodders Car Club has been part of the Perryville community since 1979, when a group of local car enthusiasts formed the organization to celebrate and preserve classic cars, street rods, and custom vehicles. Over the years, the club has combined its passion for automobiles with community service, supporting local charities and encouraging young people to pursue automotive careers. The HiWay Rodders are best known locally for organizing the annual Mayfest Car Show, a longtime tradition that draws car owners and spectators from across the region.
