Gladys H. Wichern, age 88, of St. Louis, died at 7:07 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Delmar Gardens South in St. Louis.
She was born Sept. 7, 1936, in Farrar, the daughter of the late Walter and Hilda (Detjen) Luehrs.
Gladys was a lifelong Cardinals fan. She could tell you anything you wanted to know about each of the players, both on and off the field. She had her own very successful drapery business called Studio B Creations. Many times, prominent interior decorators would consult her for advice. And no matter when you were at her home, you could be sure her radio would be tuned to KMOX.
Surviving are five children: Dan (Lisa) Wichern of Mexico., Teresa Wichern of Oakville, Eric (Amy) Wichern of Olathe, Kan., Rebecca Wichern of Nampa, Id., and Curtis (Kristina) Wichern of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Edgar (Peggy) Luehrs of Jackson., and Gerald (Margie) Luehrs of San Lorenzo, Calif.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings: Clinton (the late Evelyn) Luehrs and Elaine Cockerham.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4627 Baumgartner Road, St. Louis, Mo., 63129.
