Gilbert “Gib” Hoffman, 97, of Perryville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 25, 1928, in St. Louis, to Elva Hoffman and stepfather Edwin Weinrich.
Gib and Stella Nething were married Nov. 8, 1953, in Washington. She preceded him in death Oct. 18, 2002.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Gib retired from Gilster-Mary Lee in 1993. He enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing, deer hunting and farming. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, VFW Post #4282 and American Legion Post #133.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hoffman and Linda Hoffman; daughter-in-law, Elaine Hoffman; and three grandchildren, Joel (Mary Catherine Fetterhoff) Hoffman, Stacey (Chris) Durlacher and Tony Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stella Hoffman; and one son, Bob Hoffman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, and will continue from 8:30 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville. Graveside military honors will be provided by VFW Post #4282 and Delta Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran School Building Fund.
