Ervin “Terry” Reid, 77, of Perryville, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born January 27, 1948, in Perryville, to Clemon Leo and Freda (Johnson) Reid.
Terry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was of the Baptist faith.
He worked as a production manager at Solar Press for 17 years and went on to retire from Gilster Mary Lee as a line operator after five years.
Terry enjoyed fishing, as well as watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers. Most of all, however, he loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his dog “Nick.”
Survivors include longtime girlfriend, Susan Layton of Perryville; sister, Carol (Clinton) Detjen of Perryville; two stepchildren, Shelley Layton, Cary Layton; three grandchildren, Brandon Layton, Colleen Layton, Ashtin Layton; nine great-grandchildren, all of Perryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sue, Betty and Pauline; brothers, Howard, Paul, J.R., Bob, Donald, Ralph, Bill and Dave.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Memorial Service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, with Rev. Caleb Mueller officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the Delta Team and VFW Post #4282.
Burial will be at Home Cemetery in Perryville at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or the American Heart Association.
