Elmer W. Oswald, 84, of Perryville, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at Mercy Perry Hospital.
He was born Nov. 15, 1941, in Crosstown to Walter and Emma (Lohmann) Oswald.
Elmer married Velma on June 22, 1963, at Peace Lutheran Church in Woodson Terrace, and they were blessed with 62 years of marriage.
He worked as an expediter for McDonnell Douglas.
Elmer enjoyed fishing, camping, dartball, watching airplanes, telling stories and jokes. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
Survivors include a son, David Oswald; a daughter, Christina Oswald; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Oswald; a brother, Alvin Oswald; five grandchildren, Nathan (Ryley) Oswald, Alex Oswald, Adam Oswald and Emma Oswald; and a great-grandchild, Mia Oswald.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilbert Oswald; a son, Terry Oswald; and a daughter-in-law, Janine Oswald.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Ford & Young Funeral Home and from 8 to 9:50 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
