Elizabeth Black, 88, of Perryville, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Stockhoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown.
She was born May 25, 1937, in Chester, Ill., to David and Mildred (Allison) Hawthorne.
Elizabeth was a secretary at Gilster Mary Lee. She was a member of The Eastern Star.
Elizabeth loved to play bingo, knit, enjoy her pets, and spend time with family.
Survivors include her daughter, Anna Berkbuegler.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dr. James Hawthorne.
Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Elizabeth’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, with Rev. Bryan Schaefer officiating.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
