Edward “Ed” Balsmann Jr., 91, of Old Appleton, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on July 3, 1934, to Edward and Josephine (Schott) Balsmann in Uniontown.
Visitation was held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, and continued from 8 to 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, with Rev. Michael Benz officiating. Burial was at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Apple Creek.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Saint Francis Foundation of St. Francis Healthcare System in Cape Girardeau. Military Honors will be provided by Delta Team and American Legion Post #133.
