Downtown Perryville Advancement has been awarded a $5,500 grant from the Missouri Humanities Council to support a community storytelling project focused on the history and growth of downtown Perryville.
The project, titled “A Story of Place, People, and Progress,” will center on the creation of a professionally produced video highlighting the people, businesses and key moments that have shaped the downtown district. The project will also showcase ongoing revitalization efforts and community pride.
Downtown Perryville Advancement will partner with the Perry County Historical Society to gather historic photographs, personal stories and archival materials. Organizers said the goal is to create a meaningful narrative that connects Perryville’s past, present and future.
The completed video is intended to serve as a lasting resource for residents and visitors while promoting a deeper understanding of the community’s heritage and encouraging continued investment in downtown.
The Missouri Humanities Council is the state’s affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and supports humanities education programs for Missourians of all ages.
Those interested in contributing stories or materials to the project can contact Downtown Perryville Advancement at 573-547- 1097, ext. 5, or by email at alicai@perrycountymo.org.
