Downtown Perryville Advancement, Inc. (DPA) has been awarded a People Energizing Places grant from Missouri Main Street Connection to support downtown revitalization efforts over the next two years.
According to DPA, the cost-sharing grant will provide training, mentoring and technical services valued at $38,400 as the Perryville organization works to strengthen its downtown program and continue growth in the community.
Missouri Main Street Connection will begin the process with visits from State Community Development Director Keith Winge and Senior Program Specialist Ben White, who will meet with the board of directors to evaluate current conditions and future needs in downtown Perryville. From there, a series of customized training sessions will be offered to help equip local leaders with tools and knowledge to meet their revitalization goals.
“The PEP Grant is an opportunity to strengthen Downtown Perryville’s organizational foundation, build upon Perryville’s current growth, continue the momentum currently happening with partnerships, and create a downtown that continues to serve the community,” Missouri Main Street Connection State Director Gayla Roten said.
With support from Missouri Main Street Connection, DPA expects to build on momentum from recent and upcoming projects, strengthen its revitalization efforts through training and guidance, and deepen relationships with individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the community.
DPA is currently classified as an Aspiring community in the Missouri Main Street tier structure. Leaders hope completion of the grant program will help the organization advance within that structure.
Missouri Main Street Connection is a statewide nonprofit focused on preservation- based economic development. Since 2006, Missouri Main Street districts have seen $1.5 billion in public and private investment, and the organization has worked in more than 155 communities across the state.
