Cottage Closet reopening next month in Perryville

The Cottage Closet resale shop, which supports survivors of domestic violence through proceeds benefiting The Cottage Domestic Violence Shelter, will reopen to the public on Jan. 15, with a grand opening celebration set for Jan. 17 at 302 Perry Plaza.

The shop offers a curated selection of gently used clothing, accessories, home décor and household items, providing affordable options for shoppers while also serving as an ongoing source of funding for shelter services and advocacy programs.

According to Maranda Owens, executive director of The Cottage Domestic Violence Shelter, the resale shop plays an important role in sustaining the organization’s mission.

“The Cottage Closet represents both hope and opportunity,” Owens said. “Every purchase helps ensure that survivors have access to safety, support, and the resources they need to rebuild their lives.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. during the grand opening celebration, which will also include refreshments, special sales and giveaways. Community members are invited to attend and learn more about how the shop’s proceeds support survivors and their families.

Donations of gently used items will be accepted beginning Jan. 13 at The Giving Porch, located at 303 Perry Plaza. Volunteers are also encouraged to get involved and assist with store operations.
