Clinton W. Luehrs, 85, a devoted father and grandfather, passed away into eternal life on Sunday, December 22, 2024, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clint’s life was marked by deep faith, a love for his family and community, and a commitment to service. He served his country with honor in the National Guard. He continued his service to the nation with a distinguished career spanning over three decades at the Department of Energy, where he made lasting contributions and formed many friendships.
In retirement, Clint enjoyed time with family and friends and pursuing his hobbies. A lifelong Lutheran, Clint was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in East Ridge. He was also a faithful servant throughout his life to churches in the communities where he lived. He was guided by his faith in Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hilda Luehrs; his first wife, Esther; his second wife, Evelyn; and his sister, Elaine Cockerham.
One of Clint’s greatest joys was his family.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy (Tamatha) Luehrs of Kingsport, Tenn., and John (Beth) Luehrs of Chattanooga; sister, Gladys Wichern of St. Louis; brothers, Edgar (Peggy) Luehrs of Jackson, and Gerald (Margorie) Luehrs of San Lorenzo, Calif.; his stepchildren, Gary (Vicky) Borrenpohl, Merle (Geralyn) Borrenpohl, and Diett (Bruce) Schneider, all of Venedy, Ill., Gay (Owen) Dugan of Lakewood, Colo., and Lisa Greene of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, T.J., Sterling and Tallulah; many step-grandchildren and great step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed, and he will forever be cherished in our hearts and memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will be on Saturday, January 4th, at 1 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
