Caroline M. Littge, 95, of Altenburg, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Southeast.
She was born February 1, 1930, in Altenburg to George and Adele (Vogel) Fischer.
Caroline and Vernon D. Littge were married August 13, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2005.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg and the LWML.
Caroline was a schoolteacher for 33 years at many of the surrounding schools in Perry County. She also taught religion at Immanuel for 28 years.
Caroline volunteered with Hope Seeds and as a Docent at the Lutheran Heritage Museum. She was an avid reader and enjoyed walking with her life-long friend, Ms. Hughey.
Survivors include three daughters: Martha Bohnert, Chris (Tom) Scheiter, and Carol Littge; a son, Don (Tina) Littge; a sister, Kathryn Poppitz; five grandchildren: Nicole (Dave) Warner, Angela (Jason) Kiefer, Adele (Cory) Esselman, Emma (Ryan) Lorenz, and Fischer Scheiter; and eight great-grandchildren: Grace Geringer, Blake Westbrook, Vivienne and Silas Kiefer, Grady, Ward, Ian Esselman, and Carter Lorenz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Charles Bohnert, and brother-in-law, John Poppitz. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Ford & Young East Perry Chapel in Altenburg and continued from 8 to 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with Rev. Frank Lucas officiating.
Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Altenburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Heritage Museum, Altenburg Public School, United in Christ Lutheran School, or the Riverside Regional Library in Altenburg.
