Betty Sue Black, 87, of Perryville, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at her residence.
She was born January 22, 1939, in Tallapoosa, to Raymond and Mabel (Schneider) Ates.
Betty and Ronald Black were married June 16, 1956, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death.
She worked as a cashier for Walmart. Betty enjoyed baking and growing flowers.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathleen Keeton; one son, Michael (Robbie) Black; one sister, Bobbie Akers; one sister-in-law, Donna Ates; seven grandchildren, Bonnie, Tommy, Jamie, Phillip, Tiffany, Stephen and Hannah; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Black; one son, Stephen Black; and one brother, Doyle Ates.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Rev. Michael Friesz officiating.
Burial will be at York Chapel Cemetery in Longtown.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s St. Louis.
